Las Vegas, Nevada: November 2, 2022 — After 12 months of research, development, advancement, and growth, Hypercraft returns to SEMA Show bigger and better than ever. As a follow-up to their 2021 announcement of teaming up with Geiser Bros to build the first-ever all electric desert race truck destined to compete head-to-head against internal combustion entrants at Baja, they bring even more big news to Las Vegas in 2022. First up, Hypercraft has teamed up with Scalar Performance to debut another world’s first—the first ever all-electric amateur touring race car—the SCR1. Together with Hypercraft and Ettractive, Scalar engineered the car to provide its driver with the same feeling of a mid-engine gas powered race car, while adding new technologies and the exhilarating torque of an electric powered car for an overall improved racing experience. Applying a user-centered design (UCD) process, the SCR1 was built to provide drivers with the best all-electric amateur sport club race car. See the car first-hand at SEMA Electrified in North Hall. Second, Hypercraft debuted the BC Customs SXV. Although it would look at home on the Poison Spider Mesa trail in Moab, UT, this military-spec off-roader was purpose built from the ground up for use by the defense industry. Originally powered by a Cummins 4-cylinder diesel motor, the version featured in the Hypercraft booth now features an axial flux electric motor installed alongside the existing drivetrain. This enables operators to choose between diesel and electric when covering long distances or needing to travel in near-silence. Next, another crown jewel in the Hypercraft lineup is the all-electric version of the Kindig-It Design CF1, which debuted at SEMA Show last year. Traditionally a custom, one-off builder, the CF1 represents Kindig’s first steps into offering a full production car. The Kindig-designed body is made entirely from carbon fiber and pays homage to the first generation Chevrolet Corvette. The Hypercraft-powered option features dual 120kW Phi Power electric motors and custom, 60 kWh battery pack. Discover what Hypercraft performance and Kindig creativity looks like at booth #81080 outside in the Silver Lot. Additionally, Hypercraft launched their long awaited HyperPack™ modular battery system at this year’s SEMA Show—10kWh battery packs that can combine for 20–120kWh of total power and range. Available in 400V or 800V configuration, the HyperPack has all essential components built into the IP65 rated aluminum enclosure, including: plug-and-play high and low voltage connectors, thermal management, battery management system, high voltage switching, and high voltage interlock. The HyperPack is designed to work with popular AEM EV electronics and is available for pre-order starting now, with an anticipated initial ship date to customers during Q4 of 2023. Lastly, Hypercraft was a top 5 Finalist in this year’s SEMA Launchpad—an annual product pitching competition that gives select automotive entrepreneurs a chance to introduce their product or service to the world. The competition is judged by a who’s who panel of automotive stars, including Chip Foose of Foose Design, Jared Hare of Addictive Desert Designs, Myles Kovacs of DUB magazine and TIS Wheels, and Alex Parker of Redline Detection. The breadth of competitors was top-notch and Hypercraft was honored to finish in the Top 5 among such impressive competition spanning all aspects of the automotive industry.
