Edelbrock® Victor CNC DR-17 Cylinder Heads for Big-Block Chevys

Olive Branch, MS – Edelbrock, a trusted leader in high-performance automotive components, is proud to announce the release of two new Victor CNC DR-17 Cylinder Heads for Big-Block Chevrolet engines. These oval-port heads are specifically engineered for maximum performance in both competition and high-horsepower pump gas applications, offering advanced features that make them ideal for naturally aspirated, nitrous-injected, and boosted setups.

The first of these new cylinder heads, part number 615467, features a 92cc combustion chamber designed to handle extreme competition demands. This configuration is ideal for high-powered, naturally aspirated engines as well as those utilizing nitrous or forced induction. In contrast, the second head, part number 615468, is equipped with a larger 120cc combustion chamber, specifically designed for large displacement, high-horsepower, naturally aspirated engines running on pump gas. This design allows for the use of a true flat-top piston configuration, promoting greater efficiency and power output.

Both versions of the Victor CNC DR-17 are offered “bare” and feature a 425cc port volume, 2.450” intake valves, 1.850” exhaust valves, and raised intake and exhaust ports. Combined with optimized valve placement and a relocated spark plug position, these improvements result in better airflow, more power, and higher overall engine efficiency. The raised intake and exhaust ports are particularly beneficial in maximizing cylinder fill during the valve opening cycle, while the revised spark plug location ensures more complete combustion.

Each Victor CNC DR-17 cylinder head is cast in the USA at Edelbrock’s state-of-the-art foundry using premium aluminum alloy and machined in the Edelbrock Race Center in Mooresville, North Carolina. This material undergoes hot isostatic pressing (H.I.P.) to ensure a more stable and dense grain structure, which increases durability and performance. The heads feature large CNC oval ports designed specifically to maintain high airspeed, which contributes to a high torque curve throughout the engine’s operating range.

Manufactured to the industry’s tightest tolerances, these heads come fully CNC-machined, including their ports and combustion chambers. A 17-degree valve angle is incorporated to improve flow capability, while ductile-iron interlocking valve seats and premium manganese-bronze valve guides ensure long-lasting performance. The precision of the valve seat concentricity allows for a perfect seal, eliminating leak-down and increasing cylinder pressure during operation. Both heads are designed to be used with a shaft rocker system and can bolt directly onto standard deck blocks. Tall deck blocks will require intake runner spacers.
