Revolutionary UniClutch ULTRA Flywheel Redefines Automotive Performance This month, UniClutch unveiled its groundbreaking UniClutch ULTRA Flywheel, a world-first innovation set to transform the clutch and flywheel sector. The ultra-lightweight design, compatible with any UniClutch Track core, delivers unparalleled performance for both street and track applications with its ultralight weight characteristics. The UniClutch ULTRA Flywheel represents a quantum leap in flywheel technology, eliminating the need for a traditional flywheel friction surface. The substantial mass reduction achieved through precise CNC machining results in a perfectly balanced, precision-engineered masterpiece. This revolutionary design significantly reduces rotating inertia loss for new levels of MOI. Engineered with advanced Chromoly Steel Alloy, including integrated flywheel ring gear *in most applications, this SFI-approved component boasts a superior strength-to-weight ratio, ensuring longevity and peak performance under the most demanding conditions. "We're thrilled to introduce the UniClutch ULTRA Flywheel to the market," said Brad Davis, CEO at UniClutch. "This revolutionary design significantly reduces rotating, compared to OEM components and aftermarket options alike, achieving new levels of moment of inertia (MOI) that will excite both track racers and performance car enthusiasts alike." The Ultra flywheel can take some severe mass out of an engine's rotating assembly, as in the case of a 2018 + Ford Mustang V8 S550 with a Coyote engine. The OEM dual mass flywheel and twin plate clutch weigh 27.5kg / 60lb, while a UniClutch Track on the factory dual mass flywheel weighs 25.8kg/57lb. Removing the OEM flywheel and replacing it with the UniClutch Ultra flywheel coupled with the UniClutch Track reduces the overall weight to 17.9kg /39 lb, which is an astounding total weight saving of 9.6kg /21lb while boosting a torque capacity of up to 2000nm. Another example is a Chevrolet LSA engine commonly found in the Cadillac CTSV, Chevrolet Camaro Zl1, and various Australian HSV models. It is also commonly used as a popular engine in resto-mod builds worldwide. The factory twin plate clutch and dual mass flywheel weigh a staggering 31.8 kg/70 lb, while the Ultra Flywheel coupled with UniClutch Track ICT weighs 18.4kg / 40lb. This offers a total weight saving of 13.4kg/29.5 lb!! At launch, the UniClutch Ultra flywheel range covers various vehicle and engine applications, including American Muscle, Japanese, and European applications. More Ultra flywheels will continue to be developed and added to the range in the coming months. The UniClutch Team is excited to show the Ultra flywheel range at SEMA Show 2024.
