Olive Branch, MS – Edelbrock introduces the latest and largest carburetor in its line of street-friendly and race-ready VRS-4150 Race and Performance Carburetors, the VRS-4150 950 CFM model (PN 1309). Designed with high-horsepower engines in mind, it is packed with all the VRS-4150 features that appeal to racers, engine builders, and carb tuners, as well as hot street enthusiasts looking to improve performance. All VRS-4150 carburetors fit 4150 and 4500-style carburetor flange manifolds without requiring an adapter plate. The VRS-4150 950 CFM is all about moving more fuel quickly and efficiently. The one-piece, cast-aluminum, 3.75”-tall body reaches the 950 CFM rating by utilizing 1.562” diameter venturis. Each one is fitted with large banjo-style annular boosters to provide superior air-fuel mixing. Dual 50cc accelerator pump circuits provide enough capacity to launch big engines without hesitation. The intermediate fuel circuit provides extra fuel just after the blade passes the transfer slot for an incredible throttle response. Dual power valves on the primaries and secondaries support optimized jetting to balance the air-fuel ratio, allowing for a lean cruise while providing more fuel as you get deeper into the throttle. Protection circuits prevent backfires from damaging the diaphragms. Engineers designed the VRS-4150 line with features that make it easy to tune and versatile in many applications. Like all VRS-4150s, the 950 includes a universal street throttle arm with popular transmission kick-down takeoff points, built-in provisions for a standard GM three-wire TPS mount, as well as multiple vacuum ports for PCV, power brakes, vacuum advance, and a transmission modulator. These features make it an ideal carburetor as a direct bolt-on installation for street users; however, tuneability is what makes them perfect for the track. Even the most hardcore racer will be happy with the performance, but adjustability is where the VRS-4150 shines. Four-circuit billet metering blocks with industry-standard-sized screw-in emulsion bleeds and jets allow using what is already in your toolbox. Typically found only in high-end racing carbs, the VRS includes fully adjustable intermediate fuel circuits, which help to provide incredible throttle response. The advanced idle circuit features interchangeable idle-discharge jets with mixture screws in all four corners to allow for a smooth, clean idle when using big, low-vacuum camshafts. For greater fuel-ratio control at high RPM, the high speed/main fuel circuit is split into two bleed paths – one each for the lower and upper sections. Finally, air bleeds on top of the carburetor provide a quick way to fine-tune each fuel circuit. A lot of thought was put into the design of the float bowls, including normal high-end features such as drain screws and two-sided stain-resistant Borosilicate sight side glass. Going deeper, the bowls are 20% larger than standard, and internally, it’s all about controlling the fuel under harsh conditions. When fuel is introduced under the needle and seat, a sculpted baffle directs it to the sides of the bowl to minimize bubbles, while slosh is minimized through internal baffles around the entire perimeter. These measures, along with bottom corner cuts on the Nitrophyl floats, ensure they remain on top to avoid fuel-flow shutoff during hard cornering. With drag racers in mind, jet extender notches on the bottom of the float and jet extenders in the rear bowl keep the jets covered in fuel under heavy acceleration. The VRS-4150 series carburetors are simply the most feature-rich carburetors designed for cost-conscious racers and street enthusiasts alike.
