Learn about future car colors, developing better estimates and improving productivity from BASF experts at SEMA 2017

SOUTHFIELD, MI, September 25, 2017 – BASF is conducting three educational sessions at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show. The seminars will help collision shops improve productivity, write more thorough estimates and gain a greater understanding of how new Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) colors are developed. SEMA takes place Oct. 31- Nov. 3 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
“Education is the key to staying on top of the latest trends, techniques and innovations in the collision repair industry,” said Jeff Wildman, BASF Manager, OEM and Industry Relations. “As the number one chemical supplier to the automotive industry, BASF has unique insights into OEMs and the latest trends. Through these seminars, we are sharing this knowledge and encouraging new ideas to help our customers be more successful.”
Each of the following seminars is offered through the Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) Repairer Driven Education series sponsored by BASF.

Crash Point Systems is a new tool that makes auto estimating easier than before.

Crash Point Systems unveils a new tool on the market that is simple in appearance but extraordinary in its abilities.

Crash Point makes taking photographs for estimating and appraisal on a vehicle much quicker and less problematic than ever before.
“It is my strong belief this tool provides education through communication,” says Justin Forkuo, the creator of Crash Point Systems. He developed this tool while seeking better methods for vehicle appraisal, than what is currently available, by forming a standard process for taking photographs.

This resulted in the creation of a simple device designed with maximum efficiency in mind. Its one-handed ambidextrous design allows for greater mobility. The lightweight durable plastic polymer reduces fatigue, and resists wear during heavy usage. The five ‘wands’ are color-coded and use known industry terms to relay accurate information to all personnel involved in the repair process.

MALCO UNVEILS UNIQUE INVENTION FOR SANDING CONTOURS

“The Malco ‘Conformable Sander’ is the first re-usable sanding block design capable of holding hand-pressed convex, concave or S shapes to match a contoured surface” says David Clark, New Business Development Manager for Malco Products. “We are initially targeting this new product for the auto body repair and restoration market,” he said. “Our research and development approach was, from the start, a process matching over 65-years of Malco tool design expertise with field research, testing and real world insights gained from our USA ‘Gold Class Certified’ Body Shop partners. The work-saving advantage we have produced for the auto body technician is a segmented sanding block, with internal aluminum memory bar, that can be quickly set and re-set to conform to auto body contours encountered throughout the sanding operation. The block also conforms to the human hand, when gripping, to reduce fatigue and promote evenly applied pressure over the entire sanding surface.”
