3M Hire Our Heroes 500 to Showcase Custom Painted Helmets by Custom Painters with Designs Honoring Military Members and the 3M Hire Our Heroes Scholarship Program


Event to Benefit 3M Hire Our Heroes Program Providing Scholarships and Tool Grants to
Military Veterans and Their Families

ST. PAUL, Minn., (October 29, 2018) – 3M Automotive Aftermarket Division, along with the Collision Repair Education Foundation, is putting its effort to provide collision repair education opportunities for military members into high gear this year, launching the 3M Hire Our Heroes 500 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

On Tuesday, October 30 during the 2018 SEMA Show, representatives from top MSOs, independent collision repair companies, and industry partners will compete in NASCAR stock cars from the NASCAR Racing Experience for bragging rights as the fastest collision repair professional in the industry. Legendary automotive designer Chip Foose will wave the green flag for the field. The winner will be presented the race trophy by NASCAR Hall of Fame member Richard Petty on Wednesday, October 31, at 12:45 p.m. in the 3M Automotive Aftermarket Division outside booth at SEMA.

Participants in the 3M Hire Our Heroes 500 will receive a custom painted helmet with their company’s logo and a unique design honoring the men and women who have served the country. Participating painters include:

“These great artists from the automotive world contributed their time and talents to create some amazing designs as a memento of this event for the companies that donated to participate.” said Dale Ross, U.S. Marketing Manager for 3M Automotive Aftermarket Division. “I can’t thank them enough and am excited to see the recipients faces when they received them. They’ve created a tremendous tribute to our service members with their designs and painting skills.”

Companies competing in the race include CARSTAR, Gerber Collision & Glass, Auto Body Evolution, Lindsay Collision Centers, Brandywine Coach Works, Skeeter’s Body Shop, Caliber Collision, Fix Auto, Berkshire Hathaway Automotive/English Color and Supply, Certified Collision Group, CARSTAR Jordon Road/CARSTAR Alpine, Garmat USA and Enterprise Rent-a-Car have entered the race and are ready to challenge their industry colleagues against the clock.

Each participant has generously donated to have a car in the field. All proceeds benefit the 3M Hire Our Heroes program.

The partners in the 3M Hire Our Heroes 500 include 3M Commercial Solutions Division, which provided the graphic film for the cars, TriMaxx Graphics, which printed the film, Graphix GearWerks donated their time for the installation, and NASCAR Racing Experience provided the race cars and will manage the on-track event.

This is the sixth year that 3M has partnered with the Collision Repair Education Foundation in support of our industry and our nation's veterans. Since 2013, the 3M Hire Our Heroes program has generated more than $1,200,000 to be used toward scholarships and tool grants for military veterans and their family members.
