Yakima Introduces Premium Bike Hitch Mast Carriers in 2013

Beaverton, OR – October 2012 – Yakima, the innovation leader in cargo management solutions, is introducing a new line of premium hitch-mounted bike carriers that bring a host of unique features to the category. The all new FullSwing and FullTilt feature a completely new shape and premium features from top to bottom that make them easy to install and use, while protecting the bike better than ever.

“The mast-style carrier is one of the easiest and most popular ways to transport bikes. We are proud to expand our hitch line with these new premium products,” said Michael Zoormajian, category manager for rear of car/truck. “The product was designed from the ground up with the user in mind. The engineering team was hugely successful in creating a product that provides the best user experience possible.”

Visually, the FullSwing and FullTilt are both sleek and rugged. The mast has an aggressively shaped cross-section and a sleek, almost spine-shaped curvature, preventing the bike from making contact with the vehicle. The arms, which carry the bikes, are fully-padded to help protect bikes from being scratched. Bikes can be positioned anywhere along the arms to accommodate any style.

To add to the ease of use, the FullSwing and FullTilt both offer an unprecedented innovation: all controls for the arm, fold, and mast tilt are on top of the unit so there is no need to bend down to use. Another innovation is the elimination of the difficult to use rubber straps commonly found on hitch racks. FullTilt and FullSwing use premium ZipStrips, which easily ratchet into place, to attach the bikes.

As part of the premium experience, the FullSwing and FullTilt require minimal set up to use. The FullTilt comes fully assembled. Cyclists simply take it out of the box, unfold the hitch, insert and load their bikes. The FullSwing comes pre-assembled and can be put together quickly without tools. The innovative AutoPin hitch pin automatically engages when inserting the mast into the hitch, eliminating the need to crawl under the vehicle.

Both the FullTilt and FullSwing come loaded with a full SKS (“Same Key System”) lock package, which locks the bikes to the rack and the rack to the vehicle. The icing on the cake is the premium glossy black finish featured on both new hitch products.
