SCRS REPAIRER DRIVEN EDUCATION (RDE) series will feature seminar offerings. Each of the courses has been individually selected or crafted by SCRS because the content specifically focuses on issues and information that are relevant to collision repair professionals operating in today’s marketplace, and appeals to the diverse array of marketplace perspectives that exist within the collision repair industry.

RD14 -  Building the Business Case for Diagnostics in Collision Repair

Presented by: Jake Rodenroth, Collision Diagnostic Services

This session will feature an interactive discussion on challenges being faced in the collision repair industry around diagnostics, emerging technology and changes in the repair process. Attendees will explore how to build the business case around scans, including negotiation tactics, manufacturer product knowledge and customer interaction.  An attendee can expect to walk away with a better understanding on how to get started and/ or improve their current process on scanning. Other takeaways will include:
• Exposure to the tools and resources repair planners can use to overcome objections, properly plan for ADAS and proper service manual integration.
• A better understanding of body shop SOPs on scanning and its role in the shop.  Including the following:
• Who’s going to do it?
• What visual indicators can insure that it gets done every time at the right time.
• Opportunities to bring ADAS calibration in house and direction on how to communicate it’s been completed.
• Disassembly and reassembly best practices for electrical circuits and modules.  Proper OEM parts diagram integration to identify sensors and module correctly the first time.
• Road test requirements
• Repair vs replace concerns for panels and parts mounted with ADAS.
