The teachings of General George S Patton come to SEMA as we examine how multiple businesses manage to succeed in the same marketplace for similar dollars. They do so because they have niched themselves properly so that customers with those specific wants and needs think of them first. Referral customers increase because the general population knows what this specialty business is best at doing.

General Patton explains there are only four strategies to success and many successful tactics used to carry out those strategies. You will hear how the appropriate strategy is determined (not selected) for your business. The second step will be to determine what tactics your business will select.

We will examine everyday items - cars, stores, rental cars, soft drinks - as a means to demonstrate how other businesses in a cluttered market have been successful. In a group exercise we will look at more items - fast food and beer - to see where they have been successful, as well as failed in selecting the right strategy.

Participants will look at the tactics of each of the examples to help determine how they can develop successful tactics to carry out their strategy.
