Sung Kang’s “Project Underdog” Wins Ford Motor Company Corporate Design Award at 2016 SEMA Show

WHAT: Ford Motor Company recognized the most significant design achievements at the 2016 SEMA Show with its Corporate Design Awards, which annually honor the Ford vehicles that make a significant contribution to vehicle design. The 1972 Ford Maverick re-imagined by actor and car enthusiast Sung Kang entitled “Project Underdog” received Special Recognition for Outstanding Achievement in Design from Ford Motor Company.

WHY: Through “Project Underdog,” actor and car enthusiast Sung Kang partnered with Shell, featuring Pennzoil, SEMA and a team of aspiring young automotive technicians from Alhambra, CA to work together on the transformation of a 1972 Ford Maverick that will make its debut at this year’s SEMA Show. The Maverick, according to Sung is a commonly overlooked and undervalued car (hence, “Project Underdog”). Over the last few months, Sung Kang and his three student protégés have re-imagined this classic at the SEMA Garage in Diamond Bar, CA to be showroom-ready.

Atturo Tire has unleashed the fourth tire in its Trail Blade™ series to distributors – the Trail Blade BOSS. Conceived from the start as a tire for the XL sizes popular in the off road market, the Boss is not a tire for the timid vehicle. This is a BIG tire for the HARDCORE off road. The BOSS tread design is elementally from the Quartermaster QSA-1 BOSS HOG knife, designed for hardcore chopping. Now available, the BOSS will handle the same hard core applications as its oversized blade namesake - mud bogs, rock climbing, and overland travel. The BOSS will command them all.
