Boom Mat Top Choice for MSD Performance

Avon Lake, OH (June 4, 2014)…The Atomic Deuce is the latest project of MSD Performance designated to debut during the 2014 Hot Rod Power Tour. This classic five window ’32 Coupe that was made popular in the movie American Graffiti features Boom Mat damping material and Floor & Tunnel Shield II.

Boom Mat’s damping material and Floor & Tunnel Shield II are the thermal tuning products of choice for this classic build developed to showcase many of MSD’s performance products. With a goal of keeping the interior cool, comfortable and quiet, MSD selected Boom Mat damping material to cover the entire floor, cowl, roof and doors. The damping material reduces low frequency noise that can cause vibration and adds an extra layer of protection from ambient and direct heat. Flexible and easy to trim, this material is easy to install on metal, plastic or fiberglass and virtually eliminates all unwanted road and engine noise.

To reduce driveline and exhaust temps radiating into the body, MSD added DEI’s Floor and Tunnel Shield II. This material is made from an embossed 10 mil aluminum skin bonded to 1/8” composite glass-fiber core and backed with a high temp super strong pressure sensitive backing.

MSD Performance president, Russell Stephens, shared, “The MSD Atomic Deuce is designed to perform and was built in-house at MSD. MSD engineers specified the DEI Boom Mat and the heat shield material for the car. The Boom Mat makes a huge difference in sound deadening. It is an absolute must for a hot rod. We also knew there would be tight spaces with the LS3 engine and 4L65 transmission. The Heat Shields make a night and day difference on inside car temperature by reflecting the heat back away from the body. Plus it looks like a high tech space shuttle under the car. The DEI products work exactly as advertised!”

Other performance features include MSD’s Atomic Fuel Injection, DyanForce rotating electronics and other MSD ignition components. Built by MSD’s master craftsman, Bobby Woleslagle, this bright red Ford street rod sports a New Age motorsports body – a Pete and Jakes chassis prepped by Posies, equipped with a powerful LS3 engine linked to a 4L60 transmission. The paint is a special PPG blend created by Squeeg’s Kustoms. Other modifications and credits include:
