Quanta Hybrid Performance Launches a Hybrid-Electric Corvette
Quanta Products, LLC, a Maryland corporation that has been involved 25 years in the automotive aftermarket producing products for Corvettes, is pleased to announce two exciting developments.
First, Quanta Hybrid Performance™ is a new division that has been formed to develop and produce products that integrate electric traction motors into conventional internal combustion engine powered vehicles to produce unique “hy performance” vehicles.
Second, Quanta Hybrid Performance has engineered and produced a unique hybrid electric vehicle, the Quanta Corvette QHP770™, which is being displayed at their booth (34291) at the SEMA Show. This car is a C6 Z06 Chevrolet Corvette which has been modified with Quanta Hybrid Performance’s integrated hybrid technology.
Owner and chief engineer Gary Whiting comments, “We are convinced that hybrid vehicle technology has tremendous potential for high performance vehicles. We formed Quanta Hybrid Performance so we could demonstrate its relevance and be among the leaders in this development arena.”
Quanta Hybrid Performance™ technology incorporates both cutting-edge hardware and software resulting in vehicles which capitalize on the benefits of hybrid-electric propulsion. The Quanta Corvette QHP770 incorporates two 100kW YASA 750 axial flux electric motors into the rear differential of the car. Power is provided by a 400 V, 30 Ah battery pack coupled through two Sevcon controllers. The combination of the 505hp LS7 Chevrolet power plant and the Quanta Hybrid Performance hybrid electric technology results in over 1500 lb-ft of torque and more than 770 peak horsepower, which puts the acceleration of the QHP770 in supercar territory.
The QHP770 is being displayed at the SEMA Show 2013 to gage customer reaction. Quanta Hybrid Performance seeks expressions of interest for C6 or C7 Corvette’s modified with their high-end technology, or other appropriate vehicle projects integrating their technology. Quanta Hybrid Performance…Charging Forward™.
