JET RACING TEAM AR21 EXPANDS INTO AUTOMOTIVE AFTERMARKET WITH HIGH-TECH TRANSPARENT BATTERY BOX ILLUMINATED BY LEDs
JET RACING TEAM AR21 EXPANDS INTO AUTOMOTIVE AFTERMARKET
WITH HIGH-TECH TRANSPARENT BATTERY BOX ILLUMINATED BY LEDs
AR21's remarkable new Batt Boxx will take your car's performance and style to a new level with a combination of a transparent battery box illuminated by colored LEDs and a high- performance, lightweight Odyssey battery. (Booth 37229)
The first in a new line of aerospace-inspired automotive accessories produced by the AirRace21 jet racing team, Batt Boxx is the ultimate high-tech accessory for the enthusiast who cares as much about what's under the hood as what's outside.
The Batt Boxx, made of high-tech, temperature resistant Dupont Surlyn (the same ionically strengthened thermoplastic material used in the covering of golf balls), lights up when the hood is opened. LED colors include white, green, red and blue. Installation is easily accomplished using common tools and the color-matched, aircraft-grade hardware included with the kit.
The Odyssey battery enhances the handling, acceleration and fuel economy of your car with a weight reduction of up to 20-pounds from a normal battery. With their advanced design and rugged construction, ODYSSEY batteries can withstand extreme vibration, provide full power in extreme cold and deliver twice the overall power and three times the life of conventional batteries.
"At AirRace21 we race jets at five hundred miles an hour just fifty feet above the ground, so we're well-accustomed to dealing with high-tech parts and aerospace construction techniques," says Deane Barker, President of AR21. "But in addition to jets, we're all car guys – and girls – so we decided to take some of what we know and apply it to cars. We wanted something totally different that looks cool and has an actual performance benefit as well. The Batt Boxx is the first of a line of AR21 high-tech automotive aftermarket accessories inspired by jet racing."
The Batt Boxx kit includes both the unique transparent, LED-illuminated battery holder thermal formed using custom tooling and high-performance, light-weight Odyssey battery. Grade - 8 aircraft quality fasteners are used throughout, along with aircraft-quality 6061 T6 matched (green for green lights, red for red etc.) anodized conical washers. High quality, custom LED clusters light the assembly when the hood is opened, creating a dramatic effect (green, blue, clear, & red). LEDs are activated when the hood is opened. The Batt Boxx can generally be installed with common tools in your garage.
The Odyssey Battery is a rugged, high-performance design that weighs up to 20 pounds less than conventional batteries. This weight reduction lowers the car's center of gravity, improves handling, enhances both acceleration and braking and increases fuel economy. The design includes flat plates of pure virgin lead to increase the surface area and power output: 2250 amps cranking power, 400 charge/discharge cycles -- twice as much as conventional batteries. Welded inter-cell connections enable it to withstand extreme vibration and produce full power even in extreme cold conditions and the Odyssey Battery can be stored for up to 2 years and still be returned to full power. Each Odyssey Battery carries a full three-year replacement warranty.
AirRace21 is one of the most unique teams currently competing in any form of high-speed motorsports. Co-owned by Raju Mann and Deane Barker, AirRace21 competes in the Jet class at the Indy 500 of airplane racing – the legendary Reno Air Races.
The AirRace21 race jet, an Aero L-29 Delfín military light attack jet has been race-modified to fly 50 feet above the ground at 500 miles an hour. Now named the Raju Grace and painted a striking shade of orange, the jet is further distinguished by the striking image of co-owner Raju Mann rendered in a stylish composite of ancient Indian and modern tattoo art created by Victor Whitmill, the artist who designed and applied the controversial facial tattoo to former boxing champion Mike Tyson. The Raju Grace is piloted by history-making female military jet pilots Rochelle "Lex" Kimbrell and Niki "Bam Bam" Baumann.
