New Production Model Of “Invader TC-3” High Performance Reverse Trike Set To Make Its Debut At 2011 SEMA Show
Following the buzz created by the unveiling of the Invader prototype at last year’s show, Tanom Motors is returning this year with a refined and re-engineered,ready-for-production version of the Invader TC-3.

LAS VEGAS, NV. (Nov. 1, 2011) – This years 2011 SEMA Show will be the site for the unveiling of the production model of the Invader TC-3. An exciting fusion of super bike and super car, this high performance reverse trike (two steering front wheels, one rear drive wheel) provides comfortable side-by-side seating for two and breath-taking performance, all wrapped in a one-of-a-kind styling statement. Tanom Motors, formerly Talon Motors, has spent the past year fine-tuning last year’s prototype to create one of the world’s most exciting performance vehicles - the Invader TC-3.
“Everybody was in love with the Invader prototype, but we thought that there were a few things we could do to make it better going into production,” says Sandy Hall, President and CEO of Tanom Motors. “And that is exactly what we did. It has a longer and wider wheelbase for a better ride and handling, and we increased its width and height to make it more comfortable and easier to get in and out of. But two things we did not change were the Invader’s incredible performance and styling.”
The Invader’s reverse trike configuration features an enclosed cockpit complete with a roof and a tempered safety glass windshield. Its frame is constructed from one-and-a-half-inch tubular steel with a front crash zone, triangulated side protection bars and a complete roll-cage around the cockpit. Surrounding this framework is a muscular fiberglass body with flowing sinewy lines that speak of power and speed.
Inside there are two side-by-side fully adjustable race style bucket seats that will comfortably accommodate six foot plus occupants. Drivers will find a set of controls similar to those found in any sports car - a steering wheel, gas, brake and clutch pedals and a six-speed sequential shifter with an electric reverse gear. A full compliment of gauges round out the cockpit along with many standard amenities including a fresh air ventilation system, locking glove box, map light, power tap and cup holders. Located on the either of the rear side pods are two locking watertight compartments that make the Invader perfect for a weekend getaway or quick trip to the store.
Pushing the Invader’s start button will bring to life a snarling 1,340 cc Hayabusa powerhouse capable of delivering 194 horsepower to the 18-inch wide rear tire. From a standing start the Invader rockets to 60 mph in just under four seconds. Keep the pedal on the floor and this reverse trike will quickly reach a top speed of 150 mph. Controlling all this power is a race inspired, fully adjustable suspension featuring unequal length control arms out front and a single billet swing arm in the back. Front and rear disc equipped with four and six piston calipers respectively provide plenty of stopping power.
“Driving the Invader is a really unique experience,” said Tom Sliger, Tanom Motors vice president. “The power to weight ratio is fantastic and it handles like it is on rails so it feels like you’re driving a race car, yet there is a level of comfort in the cockpit that makes it a very pleasurable and comfortable experience. And the way it looks; let’s just say if you don’t like attracting attention the Invader is not for you.”
Adam Canni, director of design for Tanom Motors, who collaborated with Hall and Sliger on the Invader TC-3’s design, is proud of their creation. “Last year’s prototype was a big hit with everyone at SEMA so we knew we had a winner on our hands,” said Canni. “But we decided that we could make it better, and that is exactly what we have spent the past year doing. And as soon as this show is over we are going back to work on finishing the Invader TR-3, a wind-in-your-hair roadster version of the coupe. We hope that everyone else is as excited about the future of the Invader as we are.”
