Defending Rims with Style! RimPro-Tec Announces Debut of Wheel Bands for North American Market at SEMA 2011
Las Vegas, NV, October 31, 2011: RimPro-Tec North America announced today the official regional debut of Wheel BandsTM, a new wheel accessory product that defends rims with style.
Wheel Bands adds innovation to the market with a patented 3-component design that puts an attractive band of tough PVC plastic between valuable wheels and hazards like curbs, car wash rails and drive-up window barriers. Customers can personalize their wheels with easy to swap out color inserts that can be snapped into the mounting tracks in just a few minutes. Quick installation to rims is achieved using a specially formed, one-size fits all, 3M acrylic foam tape backed PVC mounting track that can be applied to 13” to 22” wheels.
SEMA 2011 is the launch venue where Wheel Bands is seeking retail outlets and distributors to market this new product that research indicates is desired by over 80% of the target market segment, vehicle owners with alloy wheels that have decidedly upgraded their vehicle exterior. “Wheel Bands is a ‘seeing it is believing it’ product,” says Jim Capo, VP of Engineering at RimPro-Tec North America, “You can add color to your wheels with what is in effect a bumper for your easy to scuff rims. The elegance of the Wheel Bands design is that the foam tape, mounting track and insert all act together to distribute the energy of impacts to rims from curbs and other objects. Where an exposed rim can end up with hundreds of dollars of damage from an unpleasant event with a curb, a scuffed Wheel Band color insert can be easily be replaced or simply popped out, flipped over and snapped back in.”
Another key advantage is “Wheel Bands is highly sought after by car enthusiasts that want to make a personalization statement, adding color to their wheels, making their vehicle more unique,” says Steve Aiello, VP, Marketing and Operation. “This product succeeds by being in the sweet spot offering two key customer benefits customers seek: wheel protection and personalization.”
While the initial target distribution channel for Wheel Bands is in the after-market retail space, Aiello says the product is also being positioned to become an optional accessory in the OEM channel. The PVC mounting tracks and color inserts used in Wheel Bands are extruded in an ISO TS-16949 certified USA production facility using base PVC resins certified to OEM standards for outdoor weathering performance.
Wheel Bands can currently be ordered online at www.wheelbands.com and at some select retailers. Now is the time for forward thinking distributors and retailers to get on-board and lock in deals to offer Wheel Bands to their customers and take advantage of great margins at distribution, retail and installation. The product is designed to be installed at car care centers. Or, for the do-it-yourself accessory buff, Wheel Bands can be applied in 30-40 minutes.
RimPro-Tec Wheel Bands can be seen in the exhibit at SEMA Show 201, Booth #45310 in the Lower South Hall. Attendees that stop by the booth can enter to win a free set of Wheel Bands in twice daily drawings. Wheel Bands can also be seen in the New Product Showcase as it is entered in multiple categories. “We think there is no other product like it,” says Capo, “It’s a simple, ‘Why didn’t I think of that,’ engineering solution to both a market need and consumer demand. We look forward to being a new product hit at SEMA 2011.”
