Mantic Engineering Pty Ltd

Mantic Engineering Pty Ltd announces a new range of modular high performance clutches for the Chevrolet LSx series engines. Mantic has more than 60 years of experience in Australia, manufacturing all types of vehicle clutches.  They have now put that expertise into the development of a range of high performance street, modular street, track and 4WD clutches, and made them available to performance enthusiasts in the US. This is not just a range of street modified clutches, but product specially designed and built by qualified engineers with the owner of the performance vehicle in mind.

Mantic performance clutches are designed and manufactured by qualified engineers with full research and test facilities at their disposal. The Chevrolet LSx engine series direct fit applications have been developed with driver requirements first and foremost. Mantic do not believe that driving a high performance road vehicle has to mean living with a compromise on clutch operation. Mantic also offers a lighter weight, lower MOI (Moment Of Inertia) option for the ultimate enthusiast.

The Mantic Clutch Range:

Mantic Street with ER2

Mantic Street with ER² is a clutch kit specifically designed for street performance vehicles. It is new and unique due to the patented pressure plate ER² design. The ER² groove design increases the torque capacity of the cover assembly by an additional 8% over the same cover with no grooves. This also assists with the cooling of the clutch which in-turn enables the friction material to operate at lower temperatures reducing fade, which increases the ability of the clutch to maintain torque capacity of the clutch during extreme use.

Mantic Street with ER², in combination with other design changes is capable of transmitting up to 60% more torque than a standard clutch. This overall Torque Capacity increase is achieved by the combination of a number of factors including, higher clamp loads, increased Mean Effective Radius, better cooling of the pressure plate and higher coefficient of friction on the clutch disc. As performance vehicles typically operate at a higher load than standard vehicles, to minimize the possibility of pressure plate failure, the pressure plate is manufactured from Spheriodal Graphite Iron (SGI). This material is three times stronger than many standard grey cast iron products.

Mantic 4WD with ER²

The Mantic 4WD clutch also features the patented pressure plate ER² design. Along with all the features of the Mantic Street series, the 4WD range features a specially designed clutch disc. The disc is unique in that the flywheel side organic friction material is arranged in a segmented fashion. The geometry of each segment also increases the Mean Effective Radius (Rm) of the clutch disc, increasing torque drive. By increasing the Rm the transmittable torque is also increased. As the specified organic friction material exhibits 50% less wear than a conventional clutch disc’s friction material the durability of the clutch is not compromised. As found in the street range, Mantic 4WD clutches also incorporate the use of SGI iron pressures plates. However in this application the main purpose of the SGI pressure plate is to improve the clutches ability to dissipate heat. The result is a significant improvement in fade characteristics, allowing the clutch to run cooler for longer.

Mantic Modular Track Series

All Mantic track series products share the same modular design DNA. Based on a modular aluminum cover, combined with up to three clutch disc’s running one of three different clutch disc fiction materials. Included in each system is one or two intermediate plates. Clutch covers and Flywheels are certified to SFI 1.1 so you can be sure you are receiving the highest possible standard of product.

Mantic 9000 Series

Mantic 9000 series clutches are twin disc, 9” (225mm) diameter modular clutches that are designed for high performance cars or track use. Mass is critical for a high performance clutch to produce the expected level of performance and Mantic offers two levels of low mass clutches to allow you to optimize your vehicle performance to your personal driving style. They offer up to 1010 ft lbs (1365Nm) of torque drive capability.

Mantic 7000 Series

Mantic 7000 series is a 7.25” (184mm) diameter track only clutch, available in twin and triple disc configuration. It offers up to 984 ft lbs (1330Nm) of torque drive, with low MOI (Moment of Inertia) for superior track performance. The 7000 Series come with metallic solid centre clutch discs. The discs are available with all popular spline sizes.

Mantic 5000 Series

Mantic 5000 series is a 5.5” (140mm) diameter track only clutch, available in twin and triple disc configuration. It offers up to 740ft lbs (1000nm) of torque drive, with low MOI (Moment of Inertia) for superior track performance. The 5000 series come with metallic solid centre clutch discs. The discs are available with all popular spline sizes.

Mantic MOI Plus

All Mantic modular clutches are available with the “MOI Plus” option. Cover assemblies with the MOI plus feature have material removed around the outside diameter of the cover, pressure plate and intermediate plates. This has two benefits, the reduction of weight and the reduction of MOI without any detrimental effect to the strength of the clutch. The total benefit is over 10% reduction in MOI. Allowing faster gearshifts and improved throttle response.
