I-CAR: Plastic and Composite Repair (PLA03) $

I-CAR, the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair, is returning to the SEMA Show in 2013 with I-CAR training available to attendees each day of the SEMA Show. I-CAR training is structured around individual’s roles as collision industry professionals and helps achieve the knowledge required to advance in the industry.
Plastic and Composite Repair (PLA03)
With the continued use of plastics and composites on many of today's vehicles, collision repair professionals are seeking efficient ways to repair collision-damaged vehicles made from these materials. Given the vast amount of materials available and their differing characteristics, plus the many viable repair options, the most up-to-date knowledge and information is critical to ensuring a complete repair. This course will help you to identify the different types of plastics, correctly prepare plastics for repair, identify current methodologies for repairing today's many types of plastics, recognize proper adhesives for different repairs and when to use adhesion promoter, perform one- and two-sided plastic adhesive repairs, understand considerations around refinishing plastics parts, and understand various welding techniques and when they should be used on plastics.
This course meets I-CAR ProLevel or annual training requirements for the following roles: Estimator, Non-Structural Technician, and Auto Physical Damage Appraiser.
Three (3) Training Credit Hours
