Thoroughbred International and well-known Ford Mustang concours restoration shop, Buckeye Classic Car Restoration, have built the first all-new, all-steel 1965 Fastback in 50 years. The car was built in the USA from the ground up, starting with a Thoroughbred Skeleton as the foundation, which combined with the Anthony Jones Engineering Suspension front and rear gives the car the chassis to behave like a modern car. Dubbed Project Undercover, this 2+2 street and track car took just under five months to complete. It looks as well as it handles with the 2015 Mustang color Race Red.
The car is on display at the Golden Star Auto booth, number 23795, for the duration of the SEMA show.

For paint professionals, 3M Automotive Aftermarket Division offers two excellent systems – one with a compounding step and one without. Select the Right Orbit Size for the Best Results
Large Orbit Tools Can Significantly Impact Your
Abrasive Cut Performance and Increase Production in the Shop.
Technical Tips from Adam Spah, 3M Automotive Aftermarket Technical Expert
LAS VEGAS, NV (November 4, 2014) – There is often a perception in the auto body industry that the sander of choice is dependent upon what part of the shop it is used in. In some cases this is true, but there is much more to consider. In the past, tool companies have touted the orbit of a dual action sander by “coarse throw” and “fine throw.” This has given the industry a false sense of what the orbit does to the performance of an abrasive disc.
The assumption has been that coarse throw or large orbit tools are used with coarse grade abrasives, while fine throw or small orbit tools are used with fine grade abrasives. With further investigation and testing, this has shown to be a false way to look at sanders and applications.

The change in part composition is sure to impact your shop’s repair time and materials cost. What actions can you take today to improve your processes for tomorrow?
What’s Different about Aluminum Repair?
Differences in Aluminum and Steel Can Impact the Repair Process and the Results
Technical Tips from Shawn Collins, 3M Automotive Aftermarket Technical Expert
LAS VEGAS, NV (November 4, 2014) – Have you heard about the 2015 Aluminum F-150? Of course you have, unless you’ve been living in a paint booth somewhere. Aluminum is the topic du jour and the hype is only escalating.
The collision repair industry has been through significant changes before and has weathered the storm just fine. Need I remind you of the unitized structure, waterborne paint, ultra-high strength steels and Lean Manufacturing? Early adopters and shops that have been adjusting to these curve balls as they came along will have little difficulty making aluminum repairs mainstream. For shops that have not adjusted as the industry changed it may take a little more time and investment, but now would be a good time to make those upgrades.
